About the Website

Website - Placeholder

The origins of this website go back to those very first few days, when everyone had questions and when I was the person they knew closest to having answers.

At first, I ran a very informal running commentary on the war in a chat in a Discord server, talking about the latest developments and keeping people as abreast of the situation as I could. As time went on and the immediate threat of the invasion receded, however, I began to vaguely formalize my ramblings into more periodic summaries, trying to gather and organize information a little more effectively.

It was over two months into the war before the first “Daily Update” as they came to be known appeared. Providing a constant running commentary on the war was proving to be too distracting and time-consuming, so instead I attempted to marshal the sources I could find into a single, semi-cohesive post that I would write up once per day, saving me some time and trouble and making it a little easier for people to follow what was going on. Another couple of months would pass before the Daily Update fell roughly into its current format, which I have maintained ever since.

Creating a website where I could place all of my Daily Updates and all of the videos and images I had gathered for them was a thought that crossed my mind several times early in the war, but I never had the time or energy to do that in addition to everything else that was keeping me busy. However, an opportunity to design a website came up for one of my college classes, and I finally decided to take the plunge. Thus, www.ukrainewardaily.net was born.

My goal is to write an update for each and every day of the invasion, keeping close track of the progress of the invasion in as complete a manner as I can. These updates summarize the happenings of the previous day, and are rarely released the day of the events that they cover. Most often, the updates are released sometime between 2AM and 6AM AKST, depending on when I get around to them. I will occasionally miss a day, but since my goal is to have an unbroken series of updates, I seek to make this up by playing catch up and releasing two the next day, one for the missed day and one for the present.

This website is, first and foremost, an archive. It is not necessarily intended to be updated in real-time, and the first order of business will be reposting the substantial sums of material I have gathered over the months into archive posts. Only once those are up to date will the updates be posted here daily.

I do not expect this website to see much traffic or to receive any real attention. It is first and foremost a personal project intended to serve as a repository for my personal coverage and analysis of the war, a place where I can easily store and access previous days’ updates and perhaps give them a more professional air.
