War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity
Russian forces in Ukraine have committed and continue to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity in the occupied regions of Ukraine, in violation of international law and basic human decency. Russian crimes in Ukraine constitute genocide and ethnic cleansing, with Russia’s stated war aims including the elimination of Ukrainians as a separate country, language, culture, and people.
No especially notable atrocities reported today.
Overview
Russian forces launched another small wave of drones and missiles at Ukraine, the vast majority of which were downed. Russian efforts to pursue a second Terror Bombing campaign have yet to bear fruit, seemingly due to a lack of munitions and greatly improved Ukrainian air defenses.
The United States expanded sanctions on individuals responsible for assisting in the transfer of materials for the production of Iranian drones, thousands of which have been supplied to Russia.
There continue to be widespread reports of the poor quality of North Korean ammunition delivered to Russia, with repeated claims of high dud rates and even damaging malfunctions. North Korean ammunition is renowned for its poor quality, as evidenced by artillery exchanges with South Korea over the last several decades. Nonetheless, the provision of millions of North Korean shells has helped Russia to retain high volumes of fire across much of the frontline.
