War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity
Russian forces in Ukraine have committed and continue to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity in the occupied regions of Ukraine, in violation of international law and basic human decency. Russian crimes in Ukraine constitute genocide and ethnic cleansing, with Russia’s stated war aims including the elimination of Ukrainians as a separate country, language, culture, and people.

Overview
American Secretary of Defense Austin made an unannounced visit to Ukraine, meeting with President Zelenskyy in the Ukrainian capital to reaffirm that the United States would continue to support Ukraine “for the long haul.”
During Austin’s visit, the United States announced another $100 million aid package for Ukraine including another HIMARS system, anti-aircraft and anti-tank missiles, artillery shells and rockets, and small arms ammunition.
Russian air defenses reportedly intercepted a (likely) Ukrainian drone en route to Moscow.
